LeSysBot docs

Package version

1.0.0

Requires on PATH

ping nslookup traceroute

Python dependencies

none

Install#

Nothing to do — this package ships inside LeSysBot and is available as soon as the installer finishes.

To copy it somewhere else, or pin it into another machine's tools dir:

shell
lesysbot install lesysbot/lesysbot/tools/network

Tools#

This package exposes 3 tools.

ping(host)#

shell commandtimeout 15s

Send three ICMP echo requests to a host and report the replies.

Runs

shell
ping -c 3 {host}

Parameters

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
hostrequiredstr—Hostname or IP address to ping.

dns_lookup(domain)#

shell command

Resolve a domain name and report the answering nameserver.

Runs

shell
nslookup {domain}

Parameters

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
domainrequiredstr—Domain name to resolve.

traceroute(host)#

shell commandtimeout 60s

Trace the network path to a host, up to 15 hops.

Runs

shell
traceroute -m 15 {host}

Parameters

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
hostrequiredstr—Hostname or IP address to trace.

Notes#

  • Each tool is gated independently on its own binary, so a box without traceroute installed still gets working ping and dns_lookup — the gated one stays listed and explains itself.
